You'd be wise not to get caught with any, as they are on the endangered species list.. They have a lottery every year and give out a certain amount of permits to hunt one.. I wish they do a recount on them and remove them from the list.. Some places down here are over run with them...

There is a restaurant here, RJ Gator's, (on St Rd 520, also called Merritt Island Causeway, on Merritt Island) that has gator on the menu.
I am not aware of anyplace that you can actually buy gator meat.
I'll look around when I have a chance...

The key word in USNretdoc's statement is "almost". We live on the ground floor of a two story condo which sits beside a pond. Not a lake, just a pond. We sit out on our screen inclosed lanai and watch the alligator swim past. I always have to check for him/her (I'm sure not going to try to determine its gender) prescence before I start to grill outside the lanai. We have pictures of him/her as close as 12 feet away. (We took the pictures from inside the den, thank you.)

I still have trouble with the statement "my HUSBAND wants to bring home some alligator tail." Especially since that statement is coming from his wife! I KNOW if I made a statement like that my wife would KILL me!!!
