Thread: Port Canaveral SPends MIllions to Upgrade for Disney Dream

In expectation of the Disney Dream's arrival in her homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, officials have chosen to spend millions in upgrades to the port.

The Disney Dream will be a 1.250 passenger ship will begin sailing out of Port Canaveral in January 2011. New upgrades for the port will include a new 1,000 car parking garage, and massive upgrades to the custom terminals. In total, the project will cost just shy of $30 million. Construction on these projects is expected to completed by October 2010.

The upgrades are part of a larger agreement between Port Canaveral and Disney Cruise Lines, solidifying a relationship with the cruise line and the port for the next fifteen years.

And, don't forget the Disney Fantasy is scheduled to arrive in Port Canaveral in 2012, as well.

Another good outcome from the upgrade work will be jobs for folks living in and around Port Canaveral.
In this economy that is a big plus!
