Thread: Gangway Collapses

Local news is reporting that, during the severe weather that has been sweeping through the county today, the GANGWAY at the DISNEY CRUISE TERMINAL COLLAPSED into the water. There were no injuries reported connected with the collapse.

The report came in just after 5 PM, which would mean that the boarding process would have been over.

UPDATED INFORMATION

The gangway collapse DID, indeed, happen BEFORE boarding had been completed.

The ship was moved to a cargo pier so that the remaining passengers and crew could board.

It was "about an hour" leaving the port, as a result.

MORE NEW INFORMATION

Our local 24 hour news station is now reporting that at least one of the mooring lines broke loose in high winds, which caused the ship to shift, and triggered the collapse of the gangway.

Sounds like it was awfully rough weather.
It sounds like maybe someone released some of the mooring lines a little earlier than they should have.

I think that 'someone' was the weather.

thank God that no one was injured. It could have been much worse.

Very fortunate no one was on the gangway when it collapsed.
The weather was very bad down here in Broward County(Ft. Lauderdale) too. We had some strong winds earlier tonight.

Wow, glad no one was injured. Hopefully, nothing else will happen because of the wind.
