    Port Canaveral Weather Log

Folks usually want to know about the weather when they fly in a day or two early to their departure port. Since I live very near Port Canaveral, I thought I'd start a weather log for my home port.

I'll make occasional entries here when we have weather events ... storms, or unusually hot or cold forecasts.

And, you can always ask on this thread "What's the weather like right now?"

Meanwhile, on the next message, I'll post the average temps by month for our area.

Yesterday, it was a little chilly for comfort, gut today, it is downright COLD.

At 9:30 AM, it's 47 degrees, but it feels like 41.
We have a wind chill advisory in effect for the entire day!

Local meteorologists are alll abuzz with the possibility of record-breaking cold temps in Daytona, Orlando, and Melbourne.

I guess we are wimpy by northern standards. However, it's colder here today than it was the week we were in Alaska in September.

We woke up here in NH to 26 degrees yesterday...possible sleet/ freezing rain for tomorrow...

I'd love your 41 degrees (I say that, but my B-I-L who moved from NY to FL to KY to MS) says that he won't move back to the cold, because his blood has "thinned out" ! My S-I-L laughs with me because she has seen the woolen coats and turtle necks whipped out in Florida- when I was there in shorts and T-shirts because it "was so warm"!

I appreciate this thread, Sue! I will be in temperature envy whenever I drop in!

Starting 2007 off with good weather!

Cruising from Port Canaveral this weekend?

    You'll find some fine weather!

With only a 10 % chance of rain, lows in the mid 60's, and highs in the low 80's, those wanting to escape the cold will no doubt be pleased with the weather here this weekend.

    Cold Front Arrived Overnight

Well, cruisers, it's a cold this morning in the Port Canaveral area.

A cold front arrived during the night, and it's expected to stay cold (OK, cool, depending on your perspective) for a couple of days.

Right now, it's 51 degrees, and breezy!

In the following two posts are the weather expectations for the next few sailings:

    Thursday - Sunday (Jan 11-13)

Thursday, Jan 11th, Disney and Carnival cruisers who will be sailing from our port will see a high of just 72 and a low way down in the 60's with a 30% chance of scattred showers. Watch out for those cool winds from the ENE at almost 15 mph!

Friday, Jan 12, the Sovereign of the Seas sails through possible scattered showers and temperatures ranging from 63 to 75. A seabreeze out of the east at about 12-13 mph should keep things pleasant for those from the North!

On Saturday, Jan 13th, cruisers on the Glory and the Magic will see a 30% chance of showers and temps in the 63 - 77 range, and winds of around 10 mph.

    Sunday and Monday (Jan 14-15)

Sunday, Jan 14th, hello low 80's for the sailing of the Wonder, the Mariner of the Seas, and the Sensation. the low wil lbe around 73, and chance of showers is down to 10%. Breezes will help you if you think 80 is hot.

Monday, Jan 15th, cruisers on the Elation and the Sovereign of the Seas will have cloudy skies, and a light wind with a high of 82, following an overnight low of just 60 degrees.

    Good Morning!
Well, it sure feels better outside this morning than it did a couple of days ago!

It's in the low 70's here and I felt just a hint of a seabreeze. That may become a bit more pronounced as the day goes on, and we won't see 80 today, but high 70's are likely.

There's only a slight chance of showers.

All in all, sounds like pretty decent cruising weather!
