Central Florida has been assaulted by a cold front for the last couple of days, so cruisers leaving out of Port Canaveral may want to keep at least a sweater handy,
Right now, the mercury has only climbed into the low 70's, and it's after 10 am!!!
After an overnight low down in the 60's, it's due to warm back up into the low 80's by tomorrow, however, so things will be back to normal for a few days before another front comes through for the weekend, when sweaters will feel good again.
Winds today are at about 10 kts, from the north, so they are cold winds.
... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 9 am this morning to 5 PM
EST this afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a lake Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 5 PM EST
this afternoon.
High pressure to the north and Hurricane Ida to the south will
produce strong east winds today. Sustained winds around 20 mph
with gusts around 30 mph can be expected. Wind gusts around 35 mph
can be expected along the Martin and Saint Lucie County coasts.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast
to reach 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Such strong and gusty
winds will create rough and hazardous boating conditions on area
lakes and the intracoastal waters. This may result in high waves
which may tip or swamp small craft.
There is a 70% chance that the weather will be a GO for the launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantas this afternoon. (This is down from a 90% chance earlier)
