Just a reminder, I beleive that once you're within 10 days of sailing, you can no longer book shore excursions online. You need to book them once you get on board if you still want to sign up.

Have a great trip! Let me know how Brilliance is! Keep it in good condition for me in 4.5 months!

Wow... I didn't know that about needing 10 days before the trip to book excursions. I might have one day...

We booked a private tour.........with Mambo tours I think........I didn't set it up, one of our other cruisers did........we saw a banana planatation and the tortuguero canals........speedboats..........it was really neat.........also included a tour of Puerto Limon............

It is probably to late to book a private tour..............take a chance.......after you dock.....you walk thorugh a flea market......outside the flee market are tons of private tours and excursions.........you should be able to hook up with one by just walking outside the flea market........

    Good luck.

We stayed on the ship and never regretted it. We were not into a long excursion and that train ride was entirely too long. We enjoyed staying on the ship and we saw a lot as we were going back through the canal.

A couple of options in Costa Rica is the Canals or the Sloth Sanctuary.

Staying on the ship would be fine with me. They are going to have to widen this thing to get the newer larger ships in eventually!

Let's bring this thread back up! Hoping that someone tells us we're doing the right thing. Our Caribbean cruise has a port of call in Colon - so we've decided to do an excursion to the Smithsonian Research Center. We've already been through the canal.

    Has anyone done this tour?

    Smile Panama Canal Cruise

We took the Celebrity Summit cruise leaving from San Juan thru the Panama Canal late last Nov. We stayed on the ship thru the Canal and had a great view of everything from our balcony..... Some people took a nite tour of Panama City after passing thru the Canal, but I didn't hear anyone giving the tour a rave review.

In Costa Rica we took the bus excursion up to La Paz Waterfalls and it was a delightful trip -- It is in the rain forest and did rain, but nothing that caused any problems. Plastic rain slickers can be purchased right there if it's raining very much. Butterfly and humingbird exhibit was great. Well worth the time and money.... Nice restaurant and gift shop are located at the entrance.

If you cruise includes stops in Huatulco, Acapulco and Cabo, be sure to take the bay cruise and watch the cliff divers in Acapulco. You get to see a lot of the area of the bay and the celebrity houses built on the cliffs. Our excursion also included a great Mexian lunch. Loved the port of Huatulco. It was like visiting a small fishing village with a beach area next to the pier. Very relaxing. Food/drink is served right to your table. Cabo is always fun.

We had a wonderful cruise and enjoyed so many different ports. I was not prepared for the heat and humidity when in the southern most areas, but guess it was more bearable in Nov/Dec. than it would be during the spring/summer months.

    Have fun. Enjoy every moment.
