The best time to go? Any time you can afford it.

My DH & FIL were there in January and it was a little humid and sunny, hot but not overly hot They were doing a land tour of Panama Canal and Panama, My FIL's great grandfather helped build the canal locks!

Debbie: thats pretty neat about your FIL's great grandfather!

So basically I'm getting here that its pretty much hot all year. But perhaps the end of the year is more humid than the beginning?!?!?

Here I am stepping into this thread one year later, just checking out the weather conditions for our upcoming cruise. We leave on the Mercury 2 weeks from this Friday. We are bringing shorts as we know that it's going to be warm (hot)!!

The best time to go on a panama canal cruise ii think is around April. It wont be too hot nor cold.

This link says to avoid the summer due to frieght traffic and the rainly season.

ALSO the months of January and February because of the extreme heat and humidity. I can vouch for that! The only times we have been through the Canal or to Colon have been in January/February and it was always almost too hot/humid to breath!

    Hmmmm -
I think I would brave the humidity if it meant a significant difference in pricing.

We have cruised the Canal at the end of January and at the end of April. For sure the weather was more comfortable in April. We had some afternoon rain, but it quickly cleared up. I would definitely go again in April.

eh gads, getting old. Can't remember when we went. Once I post this, it should show.
It was humid, but not unbearable.
