5:00 AM - Is it light enough to see in the Panama Canal?
In the Panama Canal is it still too dark to see anything at 5:00 AM?
We've on a B2B and both have us entering the Panama Canal at 5:00 AM!
The first sailing enters from the Caribbean side which we've done several times before so no big deal and have no plans to get up at 5 o'clock.
The second sailing (from Acapulco) will of course enter the canal from the Pacific. We've never entered from the Pacific. We don't want to get up at 5 AM if it's going to be too dark to see anything.
I don't know when sunrise is in February, but I would be up to see the Bridge of the Americas and Panama City to the starboard side.
However, since you will have already made the transit during daylight hours in the other direction and exited on the Pacific side, let that experience be your guide as to whether you want to see it again entering the locks from the Pacific.
Since the daily program will tell you when sunrise is, you will have an idea of how light it will be. Even if it is dark, I am sure the Bridge of the America's has plenty of lights on it.
