Garry, as much as you read, can't believe you missed one ....

It's a book most either read or think of reading when going through the Panama Canal. The "BE HONEST" and Main Reason for the poll is because it's VERY long (in paperback, 704 pages, small print).

The Path Between the Seas: The Creation of the Panama Canal 1870 - 1914 by David McCullough

Princess use to give a copy to all doing their Panama Canal Cruises.

I have read the book and although I found it interesting it was a bit too detailed for my interest in the canal. I, however, just finished viewing Nova's Panama Canal program written and narrated by the author to be excellent. I felt I was obtaining a wonderful summary of the author's book with visuals. This is great for those who don't have the time or inclination to plow his book.

Thumbs up Another DVD

I just finished viewing another dvd about the canal by A&E entitled The Panama Canal. This one was good in that while covering the construction, etc. it went further and discussed the canal and its politics up to the turnover of the canal to the Panamain government.

I loved the World War II educational film cartoon of the yellow fever mosquito! What a diva.

David McCullough!

Well, since it's by HIM, then I really need to put it on my "to read" list!
