I believe it!! If you find a favorite spot, and spend one or two weeks there?? Heaven
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I agree with Roatan on the port of call- It is interesting , not like all the rest and the island isn't spoiled. Everyone I met on Roatan has been nice and caring. Snorkling is the best! But i really like the fact that it isn't like every any other place on earth.

San Diego is good... Especially if a taxi/someone drops you off!

I have to add my 2 cents. I just cruised out of Copenhagen, Denmark and it was, by far, the best embarkation I have experienced. Very, very organized. No stevedores to tip and hope you gave them enough to have your luggage arrive safely onboard. Civilized traffic and cabs that could drop you practically at the gangway. Up until I sailed from Copenhagen, I thought Pt. Everglades was the best port. Now I know better.

My favorite POC so far has been Puntarenas, Costa Rica - followed closely by St. Maartin. Oooh, guavaberry daquiris......

Allen and I truly loved Costa Rica and would spend a whole vacation there. We took the excursion to the Poas Volcano which was incredible. We decided to take a look at the Cloud forest part of Costa Rica, instead of the "beachy stuff" because it was so different from any other port. Truly remarkable.

The butterflies and birds in the forest were so beautiful and we were lucky the volcano was visible that day (I guess the steam and smoke can hide it from view on some days...)

But to go from 95 degree heat to a very cool 45 degrees with fog, and to see hill upon hill of coffee fields - wow. We talked about CR so much when we got home, my brother and SIL ended up spending their entire honeymoon there. They fell in love with it the same way we did. Such a beautiful country with wonderful people.

The good news is, from Puntarenas port, the other side of the country isn't that far away, so excursions into San Jose or Sarchi, rain forest or cloud forest are relatively short drives. I thnk the whole country is only a couple hundred miles across. It's safe, the literacy rate is through the roof (our guide had TWO PhDs - one in ornithology and the other in archaeology) and the medical care is comparable to the US.

Costa Rica is just a GREAT place to visit.

Thanks for the response. We were in Puerto Limon last year and to be honest it was our least favorite port to date........maybe we were just in the wrong place..........your experience sounds wonderful though, so we will look forward to our stop there next year.

    Thanks again.
