    Question PACIFIC NORTHWEST Cruises

In a travel magazine I saw a small ad on Pacific Northwest Cruises -- not much info just "Take a Pacific Northwest Cruise -- a New Experience". Is this the same as a cruise to Alaska? Wonder where it would go?

Decided to do a bit of research on this ....

HAL is the only major cruise line I could find that offers these. There's a whole section on HAL listing Pacific Northwest & Pacific Coast Cruises.

It seems they are out of California/Washington ports ... 1 to 5 nights ... go to places like Astoria, Oregon .. Victoria, BC .. Vancouver, BC.

They're offer on very nice HAL ships. Maybe, they are fill-ins between Alaska cruises? Maybe folks on the Left Coast use them for SHORT get-aways like we East coast folks do the Bahamas?

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has actually taken one....

They are fill-ins for repositioning cruises like Alaska for ships coming from the Caribbean and heading to Alaska.

There are also 1 - 5 day cruises for ships leaving Alaska in the fall and heading back to the Caribbean.

For us to fly across country to do a 3 -5 day cruise would be too stressful and too expensive - airlines and hotels.

The Majestic America Line offers quite a few river cruises in the American North West.

I have done many PNW cruises.

Currently Celebrity does 3/4 cruises out of Seattle for about 4-5 weeks from mid-Sept into October. They go to Vancouver and Naniamo BC.
In the spring they also do a couple 7 night R/T from San Francisco.

Many of the west coast repositioning cruises from California to Vancouver and Seattle are sometimes call PNW's as well.

I did one on RCL once that went from Seattle to Victoria and Vancouver.

There are some small ships that cruise the San Juan Islands.

If you saw an ad, it was probably for something like this:
Pacific Northwest Cruises - Small ship cruises from Seattle {they actually have a reasonable single supplement, but limit the cabins}.

Or one where you actually stay in a hotle
San Juan Island Cruises by Viking Cruises

I love the San Juans. Probably time to start thinking about another visit.
