    Wink dining/room service

Hi, I'm new to this forum, & have never been on a cruise. I'm taking Oosterdam from Seattle to Alaskan inner passage, 7/7-7/14.

Is there a way that I can find out what evenings the formal dinners are served?
Also, does anyone know about ordering room service; does the $10 per day auto tip still apply?

(I'm obviously on a budget) Also, any info. regarding the alcoholic beverages--any favorites??
    Thanks!
    JK from San Diego

    Welcome to CLF JK!!
I think you will love the Oosterdam, I sure think she is wonderful!!

I can't give you an answer on the question about the formal nights, but I can tell you that usually on an Alaska cruise it will be the 2nd night and usually the 5th night.

Any room service tips are over and above the $10 per day charge.
It is fine to tip $2-5 dollars depending upon how much they are delivering, so it shouldn't blow your budget!!

HAL makes some wonderful fresh squeezed juice cocktails!! Mojitos, Lemon Drop and other wonderful concoctions!!

Enjoy and feel free to ask anything else!!

Another indication of the formal nights are that formal nights are often sea days.

Just asking, but why are you wondering about formal nights? Many people are scared of them but they are almost always fun. You don't have to be really formal (suit for men, nice dresses for women) and those are the nights that you get some of the most interesting (read lobster) meals in the dining room.

I had questions about that stuff too... So thanks, I now know where to get my answer, but I think I can figure out the formal night. It will be either the first or second night. Doing the 5 night to Bermuda on Royals Explorer. 9/9

I am excited about Formal night. There was not one on my first cruise since it was a 3 night themed cruise, just dress casual, or at least if you were suppose to be formal they sure did not enforce it.

I like to dress up, that is the best part of my job, looking nice. And, I like to take the portrait pictures with my girlfriend when we are looking our best... Makes nice backgrounds for my laptop.
