Thread: The Story Book You Wrote

I have decided to try something fun with everyone adding to the fun.... it's going to be a storybook, that each person who comes to thread can add to the story... so it should make some fun and twisted turns... so please put on your thinking caps and get ready to read and add your story fonts to the book....

The Fun at Sea for us..

Chapter 1

Rose was still packing and repacking for a 7 night cruise with her hubby Al which neither of them has been on a cruise nor ever even thought of doing a cruise.. Rose won it on a radio station.. Al was happy she won it, but had big doubts it would be boring and costly...
She packed her 3 bags the first time, then narrowed it down to 2 the third time around after AL saying we're only going for a total of eight nights... Seven on the cruise one before cruise at hotel which was part of the cruise package she won... Rose and Al live in Denver, snow country, ski country, and rock climbing.. Not seeing oceans like many who live on coasts do.. They had no ideas what to bring and do on a ship for 7 days and nights... But she won this and she was going for it...!!!! And she know she was going to have some fun for once in their lives.. She went and bought a new camera so she could get a picture for every moment of this.. Al on the other hand said, we don't need a new camera, the old one takes good enough pictures, and who is going to come over and watch your millions of pictures of us sitting on a ship doing nothing anyway... She turned around at Al and said, Can't you for once be nice about this cruise..??? Isn't there just one thing that looks exciting to you about it...??

Mean while all the time Al was thinking this FREE cruise is going to cost me a fortune, because it will definitely mean a new wardrobe for Rose, not to mention the dozen or so pairs of shoe's she will need. Poor Al doesn't even realize how much he will spend on the ship for booze, etc etc on the FREE 7 day cruise. Wait til they slide that Seapass bill under his cabin door the last night. How much do you think they will spend, especially since it is their First cruise?? Oh yeah Al dont forget the extra baggage fee's on the way home cause Rose crammed all those soveneirs and new outfits into the luggage. Al will be realizing that FREE does not always mean FREE!!!

Poor Rose was thinking maybe she should have asked her mother to go with her instead of Al. At least her Mother understood the importance of packing shoes and clothes. A girl just can't be seen in the same things twice, especially on an adventure like a cruise. So with this in mind Rose was of the opinion that maybe she should just cancel the cruise and take the money instead.

But that thought only lasted a few seconds.. she decided again I won this and I want to go.. IF he wants to complain about it, I'll just let him. If I took the money it would be spent on a big fishing trip with his buddy's and wifes, and the wifes doing all the cooking and dishwashing at a camp site. The cruise would be waiters and stewards waiting on me... Yes, I want the cruise no matter what..
Rose could see the sun shinning in the kitchen window as she was doing the morning dishes and she was thinking of them Caribbean sunsets she had seen in travel books and commericals on tv. Now she was going to Caribbean for 7 nights. And spending one night in Miami before boarding day. She got goose bumps just thinking of the fun she wanted to have.

Fun was something Rose didn't have a lot of. Even though all these years of living in snow and ski country had its moments, she knew it wasn't like being on the beach with sand between your toes, your hair tossing about in the wind from the waves, and the sun beating down on you.

The dreams she had were for just that picture. Except there was an addition. She could she her lover running toward her having taken a dip in the ocean. His boyish haircut with just enough curls to run her fingers through delighted her each time she saw him.

So looking out the window she knew that she was going to have the time of her life and some adventures that would bring the fondest memories to her forever.

Today was one special moment of many to come. The postal package with all the cruise info came from the Radio station.. And she know it was true, just holding the big yellow envelope in her hands pressed against her heart.
She had three weeks to get ready still. But she know they would be the hardest three weeks of her life. She remember saying them exact same words three weeks before her wedding.
Al was a guy who never wanted anything fancy, he just wanted a full life of the western type of life they lived in Denver. Heck he did not even take her out of the state for their honeymoon. They had a wonderful honeymoon at the romatic chalet at the top of the mountain over looking the wide ski country. Champagne and hot tub on the deck waiting for them to arrive. But still it was still ski country.
Her dreams of warm sun and sand in her toes is more her dream and never a thought in Al's mind. Their big friday nights was at Bucks Ale House & Grill. Wide screen tv's with sports on all three screens, a mug of beer, and cowboys yelling there heads off.. Al worked for city works dept. Made good money and was a saver, Rose had a part time job only to have extra cash to spend on the nieces and nephews and christmas. She did not have to work, she wanted too. She worked in local hospital in records dept. After 5 years of marriage no kids yet. But she knew it would happen in time.

Then the aliens landed.......

"The Aliens" is the way Rose referred to Al's and his friends....Larry, Ian, Ed, Nate and Steve, who all plopped down in her family room every Sunday to watch football, drink beer, holler for food and fart! Good lord the cruise just couldn't come soon enough. Perhaps she should invite her mom to come after all.......No her best friend Penny should come along, now Penny knew how to have a good time. She had got rid of her loser husband Ralph and was constantly telling Rose about the joys of single life.
