    Unprofessional School ?

So, as some know or have heard me say I am taking classes part time, computer science...

Anyway, if there is little demand for a class they will cancel it, understandable right? Here is where I am asking if my school is being a little unprofessional...

My Wednesday evening class - Oracle Databases, was canceled - but they have yet to tell me. I only know because one night bored I was playing with the online registration system and noticed the class I was taking was marked "Closed" which they only due when it is full, but had -4 available out of 0. The 0 would have been the number of seats the class can hold and the -4 is how many are left. So, I checked my schedule and the class was still there, so I said OK they must need to send out a Letter, E-Mail, Phone Call - Something before "officially" removing it from my Fall Schedule. Well... Yesterday I went to print my schedule so I know what class rooms to walk too since next week is school, and the class was gone.. I was like WOW and they have yet to tell me anything. I do plan on confronting them about this...

    Gets better....

My girlfriend is also attending classes there at night - Nursing. Her English class was not canceled but they switched teachers and in doing so switched her class room.. Not even in the same building...She only found out because of what happened to me so she wanted to make sure her classes are in order..

Is it just me, or should they be responsible to let the students know of a major change like that... Or is it up to the student to check his/her schedule every day until the first day.. ?

Are you going to an extension type of school? It seems that happens more often than at a regular tuition based school.

That said, I do remember having a physical ed class cancelled on me for my last quarter at UCLA, but I had already basically finished up taking all classes required for my undergrad degree and was just finishing up getting enough credits (I did take one class that I felt would help me with my masters program the next year). I just thought it would have been a good class to take for the sake of exercise.

You would think that in these days of email, that you would have been sent one that your class was cancelled so that you can sign up for something else.

I think any school should be responsible for letting students know if a class has been cancelled or moved. In these days of "instant" communication, there's no excuse for not doing so.

I don't think it's right for a school to expect it's students to check the website for class cacellations or room changes etc. they should notify students as soon as possible.

Thank you all, so it is not me..LOL

No not an extension school however the school does have small extensions. It is a SUNY school, good two year school..

Just in case - SUNY (State University of NY) there are a lot of schools all over NY that are just as good as the expensive university's but help you save a few bucks.... That is what I am doing, get all the two year stuff out of the way first, then move on... No clue where yet.

People do that here too by taking classes at a community college before transferring to a Cal State or UC campus. I took English 1 and another class at Pierce community college between my Freshman and Sophomore years at UCLA because I didn't want to take English 1 at UCLA.

Now I live in a college "town" as there's a Cal State campus here. But I haven't considered taking any classes there.

I do not blame you. English 1 at a community college or any school not as big as UCLA is nice easy A/B - but UCLA I am sure the course load would be more difficult.

Professor last semester told me a guy he knew took 80 credits and got almost all of them to transfer to (I forget which school) took his last 20 or 30 credits at that school and got his BS at almost the price of a Community school... And right now is only 137 a credit...
