    Save me from Germaphobics

I know I will get the opposite opinion from many , but studies do show that this overuse of bleach and anti germ products along with overuse of antibiotics are causing more drug resistant germs. So people are so obessesd with this stuff on a cruise ship, one wonders why they ever leave home. And I really bet even though they think their home is perfect, I bet they also have some lurking. And do not get me stareted on dust mites:icon_smil

It's been said that cleanliness is next to Godliness. However, in both cases it can be taken too far. A clergical friend of mine once said, "they're so heaven bound they're no earthly good". The whole "germ free" thing has been overdone to the extent we're now prone to things which weren't a problem years ago. Remember your mother saying "you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die."? Today the cleanser companies and media have convinced people that they must be "germ free". BS! Bacteria and viruses are all around us, and we happily coexist with most of them. Ordinary cleaning around the house, and good personal hygiene will solve most of the problems.

I agree. I know someone who wont touch her keyboard or phone until she uses that germ free stuff first. Not that I don't think it is important to wash your hands, but this girl takes her own toilet paper everywhere because she doesn't want to touch the toilet paper rolls in a public restroom and she flushes the toilet with her foot. When she leaves the restroom, she uses a paper towel to open the door and disposes of it when she finds a trash can.

There is a lady in our church who refuses to shake hands. She will tell you, "I don't shake hands because of germs", so when we do the Welcome, she just stands there and wont greet anyone. When we leave and the pastor shakes everyone's hands, she just nods and says goodbye.

Your body has to build an immunity to things. Even shots contain live virus'. Your body fights off the diseases, but if we just keep making everything sparkly clean in a perfect way, our bodies will not be able to fight off the smallest things. Like the boy in a plastic bubble, he lives in a germ free environment and any exposure to the outside world would kill him.

Wash your hands often (especially if you have a cold). For heavens sake, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Keep your house clean and even disinfect it, but don't worry about every little germ out there. You can't fight them all.

I understand wanting to be healthy, but I agree that the germophobes take it too far. They're only hurting themselves. We are required at the office to wash our hands after using the bathroom. Of course I always have. Can't imagine people leaving the washroom without washing their hands. Ugh!

I wash my hands and use the paper towel to open the door.. but if you saw some of the ppl who came in my work, you would do the same! Your keyboard and phone at work has more germs than the average toilet seat, so I can understand cleaning it..although some people do carry it too far!
