Last night she was getting tired out from the coughing and maybe from the medication wearing off. But she needed to finish her science project just in case she was us for going to school today. But when I woke her up around 6:40, she was just feeling too sick. Couldn't even get her to stay awake to eat a bagel half (so she can have her prescription). Later on, she woke up and she's coughing a little bit now (a couple of hours after taking the medication and some cough syrup). And playing on the computer.
Hopefully the science project will last until she can get it to school. One part has water, which I was trying to keep in the plastic wrap (plastic bags weren't listed as acceptable so I didn't want to get her marked down just in case this was a sticking point for the teacher). Hopefully it doesn't leak (my first attempts were problematic) between the alum. foil and the plastic wrap. I think the one thing that may spoil is the piece of bagel...but I guess I can replace that with a fresh one (it's a nucleus with a bit of oreo in the middle).

I was thinking about that last night. This morning my hubby left so he can go to his mother's to see how she's doing, find out if the caretaker needs anything, and do some work around her house. So I can't leave the girl alone. Oh, well.
I did go to her school a couple of weeks ago in the morning (while he stayed to take care of her) to talk to the technical drama class (those students will be doing the behind the scenes work for the upcoming play) about publicity. Before that, I went to the main office and left notes for her academic teachers with my cell phone number just in case they wanted to discuss any homework for the girl. Only her math teacher called with an assignment. So the girl got her absent assignments when she got back last Friday. I just sent an email to her English and History teachers (her science and math teachers don't seem to have one) updating them.
I was showing her where she went wrong with her exponent homework a couple of hours ago and now she's back at work on it. I did have to refer to another book that I got from the library as whatever I learned was many years ago. In a little while, we'll be working on exponents in algebraic expressions. Fun.

Sorry to hear about the trials, Patty. Having bad allergies myself and having Deb with asthma, I know what you are going through. A couple of things that help me. One, I keep the humidifier on all night every night. It seems to help. Two, I keep the bed propped up (my allergist suggested putting two bricks under the front of the bed). Third, lots of hot showers and (Deb suggests) nasal cleaning on a regular basis.
Good luck with everything. You have my sympathy!

Patty, is "the girl" able to go back to school? Really hope she's feeling better!

Thanks. We have two machines going at night. I am having her sleep in the den on the couch so she can be propped up more (if she stays put) with the vaporizer going on on the table behind her. And the tv if she can't yet fall asleep. I've been staying with me all night too. We also have a hot water vaporizer going in the kitchen with vapor rub.
My hay fever's been under control, but I can tell there's something blooming in the air (we seem to be bothered by the same plants).
The urgent care doctor she saw on Sunday said she should stay out of school today and tomorrow. She's missing a test of Islam history and a vocabulary test for sure. Her English teacher said in her email that she feels the girl can get caught up eventually. She got a cortesone shot and an xray and the doctor thinks her coughing is part asthma but part something else (I think he didn't want to come out to say psychosomatic, I think I did say reflexive...she's been coughing so much, she can't stop, like hiccups).
She was having problems with falling asleep last night and I finally gave her some benedryl which helped take care of that tickle so she was able to fall asleep.
