Talking Too many souvenirs from your cruise? Here's how to unload!

Too many souvenirs from your cruise? Here's how to unload!

Many of us come home with things that the cruiseline gave us as gifts or we just thought we couldn't live without. Remember that dreadlock hat you needed in Jamaica? The 8 fanny packs from the Loyalty Club? The cruisline shirts you thought were the right size... until you got home?

This thread is dedicated to those people who wish to sell it on eBay or similar online auction. Sell some of that stuff off and pay for another cruise!

    Ask away!

I've never sold anything on e-bay. Is it difficult to do?
Do you have to constantly 'monitor' your auctions?

The first thing you need to do is sign up for an eBay account. They will ask for a valid email address to verify your identity.

When bidding, you will need to make sure to check a sellers feedback rating. Thus will be the number and percentage next to the sellers name. The number shows how many good auctions a person has had, selling or buying. The percentage shows how many auctions were completed with no problems. If you click on a sellers number it will show you a detail of the individual feedback comments.

When selling, I always make sure to look on eBay to see what the particular item I want to sell is going for. If I don't see the item, then I make a guess about how much I think it should sell for. Make sure to weigh your item in packaging in order to give your buyer an accurate shipping cost. I for one, always make sure to send items with a tracking number of some sort for my security and the buyers security.

When you sign up for eBay, they have an area of faq's that will help you start out. I suggest reading thru them. If you have more questions, please ask! I have completed over 1000 transactions on eBay, both buying and selling.

    eBay!!!!

    oh....don't get me started!

    I am an eBay addict.

A BIG chunk of my paycheck over recent years has dissappeared due to eBay.
On my Antiques Roadshow thread, everything that I mentioned about my on-camera appraisal was bought on eBay. If I sold those items at the appraisal price, I would make a huge profit.

Ebay is very easy to use. When you go to their home page, click on the 'register' link at the top of the page.

You do not have monitor you auctions constantly whether buying or selling. You may as often as you wish, but they do send you email updates.

Ebay if fun but addictive. If you don't have self-control, you could find yourself with a bunch of stuff you don't really want. You wouldn't believe what you can find there. Even cruises.
Be cautious when buying though, check the seller's feedback rating, read the description carefully, and ask questions.

Hello. My name is Mike. I'm an eBayaholic! I got addicted a couple of years ago. I'd be getting 10 plus packages a day!!! I had to quit. I've sold a few things there. It's fun! I love eBay.

    hey.... it's me...... MOM!

In over 1000 transactions I have had one go bad. The guy got his merchandise, verified thru delivery confirmation, and left me bad feedback saying I never mailed it.

I follow a few sinple rules:
    1. Always check feedback when I am interested in bidding.... I personally never buy from someone who has less than about 20 feedback... I don't want to be their first sucker.
    2. Always use delivery confirmation when I am selling.
    3. Always use PayPal for the payment service.... I don't send money orders to people or allow them to send them to me "the $$'s in the mail "
    4. Ask all questions before I bid and make sure my listings say to ask all questions when I sell.
    5. Always provide the shipping costs. It's a turn off to a bidder when they have to ask you for shipping amounts.

..... and probably a few more I can't think of right now since they seem automatic to me now.
