We always dress casual for boarding. BUT -- be sure you have slacks, etc. in your carry on to change into for dinner. If you have shorts on and your luggage arrives late (or not at all) you won't be able to dine in the dining room. Happened to us once on HAL. Arrived at our cabin about 9:30 p.m. And luggage has been known to drop off the ramp into the water These happenings are rare, but best to be prepared.

I wear capris and a comfy top, and take a change in my carry on!! Then I can wear either, depending on boarding!! Last year Dickie wore shorts on boarding day to dinner, and the waiter at the door said he was fine that night, but not for the rest of the week!! I gave the waiter a hug!!! There are lots of passengers who fly to the port in shorts, and do not recieve luggage in time for dinner!! Same applies on the last night for dinner. Many will be wearing traveling clothes to dinner for the next days travel!! Luggage is in the hall at 8 p.m. on Princess!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Luggage on RC is normally in your stateroom by 6pm........they technically have until 8 but normally I have my luggage by 4 at the very latest. We too also take slacks for dinner just in case.

    The red hat!!!Oh joy!

I make a point always to leave Seattle wearing some kind of shorts and sandals, usually pretty bright colors. I don't care if it's raining or snowing! In the colder months, it bugs the hell out of the other travelers at the airport. I also fly home the same way only alot tanner!!

Now that I think of it, the only place I seen any signs are for the dining room and it doesn't even mention shoes!!
