Thread: Is anyone watching DesignStar on HGTV?

I'm hooked.

I never understood the attraction of reality shows, since most of them had nothing to do with MY reality. So I have not watched The Great Race, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, etc.

But I love watching design shows on HGTV and Discovery Home, and Food shows on the Food Network and Discovery Home. So even though the challenges faced by the designers are not always realistic ( this is a field where things are always delivered late, and things always need some adjustment), I am getting into this!!

Is anyone else watching this? I want to talk about this with SOMEONE!!! My husband isn't interested.

Designstar is an 8 week show where 10 designers are competing to have their own show on HGTV. Each week after the design challenge, one or 2 designers are ruled out, with Clive Pearce telling them "...., you show has been cancelled. Please exit the studio." Episode 3 aired this past Sunday, and we are now down to 6 designers.

When is it on??

Each episode airs for the first time on Sunday at 9pm Eastern and Pacific. They replay it 4 hours later, and then again on Tues and Wed.

On Aug 19, they are going to air all the episodes so far up to #5, which will be on for the first time that night.

For info about the judges, the constestants and an overview of the episodes so far, go to hgtv.com, and click on the designstar ad. But if you don't want to know who has already been kicked off, wait until the 19th.

Reminder to all you HGTV fans - DesignStar's 4th episode will be on today at 9 Eastern and Pacific, 8 central, and I'm sorry, I don't know when Mountain.

I did miss it do to not being home. But have the DVR set to record in a few hours. I'll check back in here tomorrow.

I got home in time to watch most of the show. The first part, where they got the design assignment, and then the best and worst were chosen were over when I tuned in, but I got to see the entire execution of the new kitchen.

Then during the judging, when they called the two designers with the most problems forward, my TV went on the fritz!!!! First the picture froze, then both the picture and sound went away!!! My husband grabbed the remote to "help", and I ran to the watch our other TV. Got there in just in time to see which designer was kicked out. Otherwise I would have had to stay up all night to watch the replay!!

I really think they kicked off the wrong person on Sunday, but she won't be able to make it all the way anyway.

I'm not sure that any of the final four has what it takes to keep me interested in a series on home design, but I am still interested to see the rest of the challenges and who wins.

I am planning to watch the replays Thursday night and Saturday (not Sunday like I said earlier - sorry!) to see what I missed.

OMG. What was with Temple? Her idea with the rugs lost me. And what about Tym's Green Room/Prison Room? LOL David's was interesting. Glad he didn't paint all the walls red. hehe

Oh, and since when is a Tiffany Box Green look like sea foam green? I thought Tiffany was a more of a baby blue. Who knows. I may be wrong as I've never seen that box. LOL
