Jackie, I am SO glad I have someone to talk to about this!!!
I thought Temple just didn't like the color yellow, or wasn't thinking too hard. She did use some yellow accents (candles, a print under the kitchen cabinets), but overall, I thought her room represented white or bamboo much better than yellow. I thought she could have added some yellow in her drape, in the rugs, in the place settings, etc. She had some good ideas, but overall, the room was blah. As for the rugs, I can't believe she told the judges that she ran out of time to straighten them out!!!!

Wasn't that green bed AWFUL? For someone who wanted to bring nature indoors, he used the worst color for that spread - and I think he should have had a wooden headboard instead. Otherwise, I thought the rest of his room showed well.

David's room I liked, but I thought his big art pieces were too strange - not my taste.

Now for Alice's room. It looked a little green on my TV also, but I think that's because most lights give a room a little yellow cast. This is what a box from Tiffany's looks like:

So now you know what she was shooting for.

    Who are you rooting for?

I like the 3 left. Hard to pick which one would really be better. They all(in my book) have about the same number of downfalls. And the same number of good things going for them. Tym is kinda wild for me in his style. David is more down to earth. Yes I do think David's art was a little out there. But I could change that easier than re-painting a red room.
We shall see. It is gonna get a lot harder from here on out for them. So we shall see.

    BTW, thx for the pic.

I agree - I like all 3! I wrote on the HGTV blog that I would like to see them all work together, like in a "Design on a Dime" format. I think their different styles, when put together would really balance out.
    • Alice knows how to put together a comfortable, soothing room, but doesn't take risks.
    • Tym has great themes, and is willing to try new things, but has trouble with color - either too much or too little.
    • David has great color sense and enormous talent with graphics and sculpture, but isn't always thinking about whether the room is liveable.
You know, I like what I've come up with here so much, I'm going to add it to the show's blog.

I almost watched the DesignStar marathon today, but decided I better do some yard work. Otherwise the Garden Police will show up!

Tonight's episode was great! I enjoyed watching all of them work, and watching all of the designs evolve. David has really come along with his on-camera skills, Alice was able to work outside her comfort zone, and Tym was finally able to do a NY studio apartment. All the rooms were great, and I do not know how the judges could decide who to send home.

I have already been to the HGTV blog and registered my disgust at them giving Tym the worst carpenter in Manhattan. I'm not sure if having someone good for the whole challenge would have made a difference, but it certainly added stress to him that the others did not share.

One thing that I have to say is that I'm ok with TZym going home.. Did you notice(on last show too) that Tym is good with telling people what to do or what needs to be done and then he goes off shopping(DH's opinion). I think he just needs to devote more time in the room than buying for it.

I'm happy with who they sent home this week. JMHO

It's hard to know what really happens - they only show clips of the entire challenge. I didn't notice that Tym shopped any more than the others, but that's why it's so good to talk to other people about this - you find out what you missed.

Now for tonight's episode. I do NOT know who to vote for! I LOVED David's room, but Alice's seemed more practical. I would have the same problem if I had to pick which one to design a room in my house. I love them both, and I don't want to have to pick between them.

Voting ends today at noon. I have not been able to vote on the website from my home computer, so I have been voting using text messages from my cell.

Mindy, I was happy with the winner. Both were good. I loved the Glass House final project. And David picking Tym first was very smart. Can't wait to see his show.

Can't wait to meet you next month as well.

Hi Jackie! I woul d have been happy with either of them; I thought the last show was weird though. I almost felt sorry for Ramona - you could tell that she just never became part of the group.

I sent Alice an e-mail to the address on her website, since I thought that the judges had probably biased a lot of votes against her. I just wished her luck. She sent me back the NICEST note!!!! I really hope they choose to design on some other show, like Designer's Challenge or narrate a show like Extreme Homes. In week 3, she won an interview with InStyle magazine, so there's that to look forward to as well.

And back to David. He seems like such a fun person to work with. It will be fun to see what kind of show they do with him in April.
