Thread: Ocho Rios

I am taking a group from the UK on the Navigator on 12th Novmber. We are stopping at Ocho Rios and I would like to go as a group to Dunns River Falls. I have been quoted $30 per person for transport and entrance to the falls - can anyone tell me if this is reasonable? Does anyone know how much the entrance to the falls is?

Hi! We went to Ocho Rios a few years ago. We hired a driver near the dock. His name was Tex - and he was wonderful! (He drove this crazy little VW Bus!) There were 5 of us, and he took us for $25 each to the Falls (which I don't recall paying extra for???) and he waited for us while we played on the beach and stuff. And then he took us wherever we wanted to go...a great tour in the rainforest - as well as to a fabulous local dive that served the best jerk chicken in the world! Tex was wonderful - and I hope other's have found this gem in Jamaica!

Oh - and as you are leaving the falls, you have to exit through a very large area of "shops". My advice - stick together! The locals all seem very nice!!! But some can be a little pushy.

The locals may be "pushy" but they are harmless. If you just give a firm "NO," they'll leave you alone. I've been to Ocho Rios 3 times (+ twice to Negril) and have never felt uncomfortable with the locals. I agree go in small groups of 3 or 4, but please do not feel intimidated by them...
