    Question Ocho Rios

I have a couple of questions I hope you guys can answer for me...

    1. I've seen people on here say they really wouldn't make any reccomendations for the beaches in Ocho Rios. Why is that?

    2. What makes you guys feel "unsafe" in Ocho Rios? I've seen in a few places on here that people feel "unsafe" and wouldn't get off the ship the next time they dock in Ocho Rios.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to do my homework before we go on our cruise. It's our first one, but anytime we go on vacation, I do tons of homework on what theres to do, what places are close that we can hit in a day... (I'm doing Vegas now for next month...lol) I just feel that I'm working my tail off for this trip, (it's for my bf's sweetest day/Christmas/anniversary/bday present) so I wanna know what I'm getting into and not get off the beaten path and get robbed or worse...

Thank you for answers and or input.....

I've been ziplining in Ochos Rios, also did the Falls and snorkeled. After those, just hung out at Margaritaville, which is walking distance to the ship, pretty safe. We stuck with the ship's excursions, no reason for us to have done otherwise, it was the simple way at the time

    Wheeeeeee................here I go!

Mel, did you see the pic? I edited my post. The ziplining was a kick! If you go to the early zipline, you still have plenty of time for Margaritaville. Here's one of our honorable CLF members, Mrs Factor, getting a cocktail there

We did some snorkeling in Ochoa Rios and then hired a cab to take us all over shopping. We had a great time and our driver hung out in the area where ever we were shopping. I heard it was mostly the other port in Jamaica that wasn't so safe. Just be aware of your surroundings and stay in populated areas and you should be fine Have a great time!!!

Great pics! On page 3, there is a pic of you or someone holding something under water... What was that?

We were there back in 1994. We had an afternoon excursion for Dunns Rivers Falls so in the morning we grabbed a taxi (one of the authorized ones as suggested by the ship's CD) to go into town for some shopping. Hubby (then bf) decided to negotiate for a tour with Herbie, the driver. He took us about, even showing us the flora, and stopping at great overlooks so we can take photos. We were probably very lucky as maybe other people trying this didn't have a good experience. The worst thing that happened was that he offered us some ganja one at point, but we nicely turned it down and it was no problem. He even took us to the marketplace, told us when he would be back to collect us and he was true to his word.

I would defintely go on a ship's tour, and not wing it on your own.

That was our snorkel guide, he was showing is to hold the sea amenities upside down and the little fishies would come eat it, I thought it was cruel but they said the sea amenities only lived 3 months anyway. It was fun LOL
