Upscale cruise line Oceania Cruises has decided to add a unique set of theme cruises to their sail dates in 2012.
“We are delighted to introduce theme cruises for 2012,” said Bruce J. Himelstein, the line’s president. “While groups that share the same interests have regularly sailed with Oceania Cruises in the past, our new ‘Signature Sailings’ create a special opportunity for guests to experience the cruise in the company of fellow travelers who share their passion for the theme.”
Among the first themed sailings include:
-- Jacques Pépin Cruise (May 12-21, 2012). French chef Jacques Pépin, who has served as Oceania's executive culinary director for eight years, will lead this Barcelona-to-Rome sailing on the 1,250-passenger Marina, taking part in a Q&A session, cooking demonstrations and a book signing.
-- Spring Music Fest (May 14-23, 2012). Six guest jazz musicians, including four headliners, will perform individual main stage shows in addition to more casual jam sessions on this Athens-to-Barcelona sailing on the 684-passenger Nautica. There will also be special dance sets and dance instructors.
-- Italian Wine Immersion Cruise (July 27-Aug.7, 2012). Highlights of this Rome-to-Venice sailing on the 684-passenger Regatta include lectures, tastings and special "wine bars" featuring guest experts and special musical performers.
Additional theme cruises will included Heath and Wellness focuses, a President's cruise with Himelstein and his wife, and two Bon Appétit Wine & Food Festival cruises in October 2012.
