New Ship for Oceania in 2012

Oceania Cruises’ next new-build ship will be named Riviera.

The surprise announcement came at the floating-out ceremony of Marina which will be officially named in Florida in February.

Riviera, which is already under construction, will debut in April 2012.

It will be an exact replica of the 1,200-berth Marina, Oceania’s first new-build.

Oceania Cruises currently operates three smaller second-hand ships, all formerly owned by Renaissance Cruises, which went out of business after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Oceania has forged a niche in the upper premium sector of the cruise market and expects to attract customers from premium lines operating larger ships such as Celebrity Cruises, Cunard and Holland America Line.

Oceania is now owned by Prestige Cruise Holdings which also owns Regent Seven Seas and shares a parent company with mainstream operator NCL.

Thank you very much for posting this Tim. I was not aware there was going to be a sister ship.

Riviera , it's different I'll give it that. But I think I like it.
