We have considered Oceania as an alternative to Radisson (Regent) but the Radisson itineraries always kept me coming back to them. I just love their special and a little bit offbeat excursions. Plus, we get that repeat customer discount...gotta love that!
Sometimes Oceania actually costs more than Radisson, but they are usually very close in price...as is Seaborne and Silversea. I think all the luxury cruiselines keep an eye on each other's prices and stay in the same range.
All the luxury cruiselines have famous chefs, gourmet food, top notch service, and outstanding wine selections...the best of the best. Sometimes they build cruises around themes, which is fun. We went on a "Le Cordon Bleu" cruise once...with the menu offered in one specialty restaurant (which are always inclusive) and the opportunity to learn cooking secrets of the chefs from the famous restaurant. I wanted to, since I love to cook, but it would have meant missing a day in Pompeii. Naturally, I chose Pompeii.
Jeff, I think you will be very happy with Oceania and I can't wait to hear about it after your trip!!

I just have no idea how I am going to wait until August to go on this cruise! I am ready to go now and August seems like an eternity away. We did get a great deal on this cruise! Per THL's recommendation, we also looked at Raddison, but it was ALOT more expensive, although they were probably fairly comparable without the special deal we got. I will write a detailed report when we get back. Why dont some of you guys join us on this nice cruise?
Can't wait til your review, once I pay off the cruise to the eastern carribean for april, I will be looking for our next cruise for 2008 which will be our 25th anniversary.
Ok, I have been doing some research on my upcoming Oceania cruise and I am delighted by what I am reading on the internet. This cruise line is getting rave reviews everywhere! Havent seen anyone with a bad word to say about them and apparently this is a luxury cruise line but at a great value. I am completely stoked about this cruise and plan to study ends and outs of the ship and itinerary over the next 8 months. Who wants to join me?
My sister and my late mother cruised with Oceania, formerly Renaissance Cruises in 1999, when it was based in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Their ships were then known as R1, R2, etc. They filed Bankruptcy in 2001 as a result of 9/11, and re-emerged as Oceania Cruises in 2002. Today, as Delores has mentioned, their ships have names. Insignia was formerly R1, Regatta was R2, and Nautica was R5, and is the newest of the three ships.
This is a 5 Star Luxury Line, formed by luxury cruise industry veterans Joe Watters and Frank Del Rio. They do offer fantastic deals for the type of service they offer. My sister told me their service is great, and very intimate, as the ship is much smaller, (684 passengers) than the huge liners of Princess, Carnival, etc, so the crew can give more attention to the guests. She still raves about this cruise line up to this day. They sailed R/T from Athens.
Jeff, you Will Not be disappointed with this vacation investment.
