A cute very short repositioning cruise. I wonder why Celebrity did not extend the cruise by a day and go to San Francisco?

Neal as the Alaskan cruising season is nearly over Golden Princess starts a series of 14 day cruises to Hawaii from Los Angeles. These cruises begin on 26 Sept the day Debbie and Reggie disembarks till April 2013 when the Alaska season starts from Seattle.

    It is Princess not Celebrity.

This is the reason the cruise Debbie and Reggie are on ends in LA not San Francisco.

Sorry. I meant Princess. What I was suggesting was that Princess add a day to the reposition. Then shorten one of the cruises in the Hawaii season to make the reposition more marketable. Of course there will probably be a number of people who combine the reposition with the first Hawaii run.

Wonder if they will be able to see anything of the coast on their journey?

Final night aboard Golden Princess for Debbie and Reggie as the ship passes San Francisco, arriving in Los Angeles tomorrow morning.

I doubt if they can see the coast, I have slightly distorted my images so you can see where they are near to.

I know how close the ships come to Cuba as they pass. I was wondering if they hugged the California coast as closely.

One day I would like to do the coastal California cruise, but with the foreign stop in Vancouver and not Ensenada.

The weather has been warm in LA the last day or two, but is scheduled to get hot again. At least they're not coming back this weekend (I wonder if the Sapphire will be at the port on Saturday) as the traffic will be horrendous going north. Debbie will probably not be affected--I think she goes the other way, but the 405 freeway will be completely closed Friday night through sometime Sunday due to the demolition of one of the bridges. It'll be called Carmageddon II (the first stage was in the summer of '11). Not a good weekend to be trying to go between LA and the Valley.
Carmageddon - 405 freeway, Mulholland bridge, freeway closure ...

Even though the final destination is different to the one we were given Golden Princess has arrived at San Pedro Los Angeles.

We hope Debbie and Reggie have had an enjoyable time aboard Golden Princess, especially the Alaska cruise.

From my simulation you can see the Vincent Thomas Bridge which was built in 1963. A few years ago we left our cabin on Norwegian Star at 08:00 in the morning, disembarked, caught a taxi, checked in and was in our cabin (hotel room) on Queen Mary at 08:30 using the bridge and then to Long Beach.

The bridge has been seen in many films, but the dark side are the suicides committed from it, the latest being the film director Tony Scott this year.

Hoping the pair have good journeys home.

Well tracked Norman as usual, and another report for us to await.
