    Oasis breaks record.....Over 6000 passengers

Oasis of the Seas Sails with Over 6,000 Passengers

    Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas has set yet another record: the mega cruise ship is the first to sail with more than 6,000 passengers.

USA Today reported Jerry and Judith Schmidt of Tomahawk, Wisconsin pushed the total number of passengers over 6,000 when the couple stepped onto the ship on March 13th. According to Royal Caribbean, the pair was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a seven-night voyage to the Eastern Caribbean. That day, the Oasis of the Seas pulled out of Fort Lauderdale carrying 6,007 passengers.

The Oasis of the Seas already claims the title for the world's largest passenger vessel. The $1.4 billion dollar ship is nearly 50 percent larger than the next largest cruise ship, measuring in at 1,181 feet and weighing 225,282 gross tons. The ship is so enormous Royal Caribbean offers GPS-enabled wristbands so parents can keep track of their children while onboard.

The ship has 16 decks and 2,700 cabins, meaning 5,400 guests can sail if the ship is filled at double occupancy. However, some cabins are configured with pullout sofas, upping the ship's total capacity to 6,296.

Oasis of the Seas features a 1,380-seat theater that opened with Broadway's Hairspray, an outdoor AquaTheater with high-dive acts and water ballet shows, two-dozen eateries, a casino, and a two-deck spa. To make the gigantic ship easier to navigate, it is sectioned off into seven distinct "neighborhoods." Central Park houses boutiques and restaurants, as well as the first park at sea with over 12,000 plants. The Pool and Sports Zone has a sloped-entry beach pool and two surf simulators. The Boardwalk has a carousel, two rock-climbing walls, and even a temporary tattoo parlor. There is also the Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Youth Zone, Entertainment Place and a Royal Promenade with restaurants and shops.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I wonder how crowded the ship felt with 6,007 passengers? And the theater only seats 1,380!

I wonder is the size of the theater is an issue? I have noticed that on many cruises finding seats for the shows is usually not a problem. There seems to be enough other things going on that many do not go to the shows.
