Question Category AF Mini-Suite on the Sun

DH and I are booked for a category AF to Alaska in July, which our TA explained to us as "the cruise line will assign the cabin the day of boarding". On the Sun, there are only 4 AF mini-suites, and I believe an additional 4 AE mini-suites (someone correct me if I'm wrong *grin*). Our TA also told us, that while the possibility is remote, if there is an upgrade available (to AE or higher) the day of boarding, we are on the list.

Several questions, as I can't seem to find them in any of the other threads:
    1. Anyone ever been upgraded from an AF to higher - if so, what was the upgrade - i.e., did you get into a Penthouse suite?
    2. What services/amenities are offered?
    3. We are Latitudes members - so boarding in Vancouver, should there be a Latitudes area?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I believe that AF's would be considered a guarantee type cabin. Meaning you pay a cheaper fare and give up the right to select your actual cabin. You will more than like wind up in an AE of which I think there are about thirty of them. Depending on how well the ship is selling you could possibly wind up in a higher category than a mini- suite.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

PE, you're right in that it is a guarantee type cabin...however, I just got a chance to check the Sun's deck plans and there are exactly 4 AF mini's listed, and 4 AE's, not 30....I hope this gives us a better chance of being moved up

Oh No, PE is wrong? He is going to be so upset.
Sorry for the intrusion, but I couldn't help myself.

LadyStahr, whatever cabin you get, are you going to be ok with that?

No, I was not wrong. I said there was about 30 AE mini suites and 28 is about 30. There are 26 AE's on the Pool deck and 2 more on the Norway deck. There are 4 AF's on the whole ship. 2 each on the two decks below the Norway deck. I should be fairly familiar with the Sun since I have been on her 3 times each time occupying an AE.

Are we going to be happy with whatever cabin we get?

You BET!! It's a cruise, after all

PE, sorry, I missed the extra AE's on the Pool Deck...went back and looked and saw them.
