This incorrect to some extent. Just being in an expensive cabin does not give you priority, working with the Concierge is what gives you priority. Suites aboard NCL ships are advertised as having Concierge service. Most if not all of the upper end suite passengers will be introduced to the Concierge before even boarding the ship and some may even be escorted onto the ship by this individual. Now this is not to say that no one else has access to these services. If you contact the concierge for some assistance they will not hang up on you. But, remember to compensate this person appropriately.

Okay, this answers a question I had. Even if you aren't in a suite (for those like my family who only book insides/OVs), you should be able to call and get a reservation easily, more or less. But the concierge will expect a tip. This is good to know.

Char-

WHICH restaurants have lobster every nite on the PEARL? Is there an added price for lobster?

I heard the MAIN dining room on formal nites NO LONGER serves Lobster like the other cruise lines...

Thanks11

I don't have a clue! That info was direct from the NCL news release. I have never sailed on NCL. Our NCL Guide, Planersedge, may be able to get you more details.

As part of Freestyle 2.0 the food service is being enhanced immensely. Lobster (Rock tail or Caribbean) will be available in the main diningrooms more than just one night. There is no charge for this lobster. But, remember that the Live Main Lobster in Cagney's does come at an adddditional cost.

Freestyle 2.0 is being rolled out as wee speak and should be fully implemented by summer of 2008. The Pearl will be one of the easiest to fully implement 2.0 and they should have the enhanced menus as we speak.

I hope someone will be able to obtain some sample menus from specialty and from the regular restaurants to scan and post when Freestyle 2.0 is rolled out. That would be great!

Robin-

I am slightly freaking out...we are on this ship with friends as it was the only week they had to cruise and I did not want to do Western Caribbean...even tho it was on great ships as I hate Western Caribbean..We booked the Pearl for the itinerary.

We have done Princess Any Time dining and it is terrific..even if we paid extra for some of the specialty dining....Our friends, thank goodness, ARE in a suite and we are all cross referenced...we will link up with them at the ship on FRIDAY of THIS WEEK....................I am still packing...

Did you try any room service for breakfast?
I see where you did swim with the dolphins.....do you feel you had enough time to experience it or was it a quick photo op for the excursion people? I thought the price was super high for the amount of time you got ....

We are doing 3 other excursions on our own...sailboat for 12 in Barbados to snorkel with the turtles, and Eco tour on a catamaran in Antiqua and going to a Sandals resort in St Lucia...

We have nothing planned for Tortola or Santo Domingo.
Do you have any ideas for those islands?

I am sick over what you experienced in the Freestyle dining...and I am hoping they correct it...If we get stuck with pagers, I will make sure my spouse keeps going back to check to see if they were activated. ON PRINCESS, the only time we waited to get into a dining room was the free dining room.....and that was only about 20 min. So I am hoping NCL has fixxed their problem.

WHAT did they tell you they were going to do about the lousy dining situation?
I would be interested to know and keep a lookout while we are on the ship this week....

Thanks for the heads up..NOW I have to really read up on the restaurants that I want to try.................Did you have any reservations at either Cagneys, Le Bistro or Teppenyaki? I heard those were good.

Thanks for the heads up on the iced tea situation...I am going to buy 2 large plastic glasses with lids tomorrow to fill my own drinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry your cruise was so bad- we did NCL 30 yrs ago and never went back..this is a sort of 2nd chance...and if it is still bad, we will go back to Celebrity and Princess and Windsurf- where we have been cruising for the past 20 yrs..

Hopefully, this will be a totally different experience for you, Andy.

Isn't Windsurf the one that just went out of business? I know one of the smaller cruiselines did in 2007.

Patty, you are thinking about Windjammer...that is the one that went out of business. Windsurf is an upscale line owned by the Carnival Corp.
