MIAMI (WSVN) -- A cruise ship passenger is recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital after reportedly taking a steep plunge aboard that large vessel.
The Coast Guard reports that a 26-year-old male fell the equivalent of 5 stories within Norwegian Cruise Line's "Majesty."
A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat picked up the injured man about a mile off shore of Government Cut. MDFR crews brought the man to No Name Harbor in Key Biscayne, where they then turned him over to Key Biscayne Fire Rescue units. KBFR units finally transported the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
According to Norwegian Website, the "Majesty" is a 7-day cruise ship that departed from Charleston, South Carolina last Saturday. The ship made stops in the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Key West and was on its way back to its departure point.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Poor guy!

I wonder what the story behind the story is? Why/how did this one fall overboard? Glad he is recovering...so many have a bad outcome when they go into the water.

I know, every time my family sees things on the news about Cruises (the W5 rape investigations, falling over board etc.) They say "See Tracey! You are a trusting and gullible girl, you need to watch out!"

But I think the ones who fall overboard may have been drinking a lot? I don't know.... I don't see how you can just 'tumble' overboard easily...

It wasn't overboard, it was a fall inside the ship!!

They don't tumble overboard easily! They have to be doing something stupid or have a little "help" to get over those railings. I think most of the "accidental" falls do occur when there is too much alcohol involved.

It seems to me I recall something similar happening before--maybe on tht same ship! Does anyone remember that incident?

MIAMI (AP) - A man is being treated at the hospital after falling five stories onto a lower deck of a cruise ship from Key West.

The man's condition is not yet known. A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman says he fell from the eighth story onto a wooden deck. He was then transported to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The Norwegian Cruise Line's Majesty ship was headed to Charleston, South Carolina, when the accident happened. The man was picked up about ten miles from Government Cut.

Witnesses told authorities he seemed intoxicated and was combative when authorities arrived.

If he fell ON the ship, why did the Rescue Boat have to pick him up a mile off shore?

A passenger on a ship cruising from Key West to Charleston, S.C., made a detour to Jackson Memorial Hospital Friday morning after tumbling 50 feet on board the Norwegian Cruise Line's Majesty.

The 26-year-old man fell about 4 a.m.. He was treated by the ship's medical staff until the Coast Guard could be called. With Coast Guard assistance, the victim was removed from the ship through a loading door at the waterline and carried onto a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat at a buoy 10 miles off of Government Cut.

According to Chief Petty Officer Jennifer Johnson, the man was ferried to No-Name Harbor at Bill Baggs State Recreation Area on Key Biscayne. From there, he was taken to Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Fire Rescue.

The circumstances of the man's tumble were unclear as of Friday morning. His condition was not immediately known.
