It is actually on its' maiden voyage as we speak. A member here, Shoreguy, is doing a blog over on another board.

Your Friendly NCL Navigator, John
If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.
A bad day at sea is better than a good day at work.
A friend is flying to Barcelona in a couple of days for a cruise on the Gem.
I'll let you know what she reports back on her return.
EJ was on it last week and came back saying it was a beautiful ship.
Hopefully he will share some more info about it.

I was on the Gem on her inaugural cruise from Dover to Amsterdam. In my opinion it was a beautiful ship. The Grand Pacific Dining room is one of the most stunning dining rooms I have seen at sea and the food was not bad.
The ship is big but is well sign posted. All the main public rooms are evenly spread out. If you are into your sport there are plenty of opportunities to take part.
As for meals the buffet area is excellent. Our preference for meals was the Blue Lagoon which is overlooking the Atrium.
Some of the seating in the bar areas is a bit wacky but at the same time fun.
The ship is bright and colourful.
You'll love it. I certainly did.

A friend has just returned from the Gem Med cruise out of Barcelona said she really enjoyed it, but thought the scheduled times in port were quite short.

A little more info on the Gem for you, I was onboard the Gem for 11 days in October, Dover to Barcelona. I fly back to Barcelona on the 30th to pick up the Gem transatlantic on Dec 3 to Boston. Horst I will wave to you as you get off the Gem![]()
Here are some pictures

I think you will love the Gem. As always they have assembled the best of the best crew from the other ships to bring out the Gem. The ship has a deckplan identical to the Pearl with some minor enhancements.
I did post a live blog and if you have specific questions I would be glad to answer them. I hope it is OK to post a link![]()

My wife and I just got back from the gem cruise and it was better than we expected, except from the usual not enough time in port, but we dont mind, since most places we visited, we have been there before, except Casablanca, for any details, just ask,
Horst
NCL Gem is a beautiful cruise ship. I didn't seen the NCL Gem in live but I had seen any photos and videos about the NCL Gem. It is one colorful beautiful cruise ship. Maybe I manage to NCL Gem in future.
Cruise ships are the most beautiful means of transport in the world, so think I
Cruise ships are many difference things what never see on other means of transport.
