Dine ashore-I had seen some info on the NCL site, but I can't seem to find it. I'm hoping that the program is still available because I'm too cheap to spend money for food when I've already pre-paid!! Here is some previous info from a few years back.

Snorkel equipment-We bought ours at k-mart a few years back at the end of the season. Bill and Andrew have had no problems, but I seem to break my stuff!!! Go figure! Do get a snorkel the prevents the water from filling it up, it will have a slit in the top. The cheaper ones are just basic tubes, they work but for a few dollars more, you can get a better snorkel. Do bring fins. Bill didn't take his to Church Bay and was really exhausted! We didn't take life jackets. They don't seem to make a big deal out of wearing them. I've been to places that required you to have them in the water.

Don't worry about the negative reviews. There are some people who just can't have a good time and nothing will ever make them happy. There are lots of good reviews, it just seems like the people who are negative ALWAYS post. Most of the complaints I've heard are about the food. Hey, if I don't have to cook it, it's good for me!!!

Here's a copy of my report from the cruise last year. The "cast" members other than my immediate family, I met here on the CLF board. We had a blast getting to know each other and an even better time on the cruise. So if you get bored.......

I'll let you know what I find out for the bus routes. Mostly I find the information on Cruise Critics (on these boards it is known as DS which stands for Dark Side) Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone. They have some strict posting rules and most of the people who were on my last roll call came over from there (with a little coaxing from Sonia who got banned from CC for doing it!). We just felt that we were a bit constricted about what we were allowed to post. They can also be downright rude over there to people who ask questions. There is alot of info on that site and I do post here and there, but it isn't as fun!!!

Here is a fun interactive map of Bermuda.

So if we're talking geeks here.....just some info you might enjoy.

mini bar menus, laundry prices, the information book that is in the room...

Some menus from 2 years ago, but from what I understand they haven't changed much.

Some pictures of the bathroom. This is a balcony room, but I believe it is the same in most categories. Well, not the fancy ones!!!

We are in one of the aft balcony cabins. Ok, it is room 10230. I know, I know I shouldn't give out personal information on the internet. We ended up giving out so much information on our thread and posting pictures that we joked that when we got back we would all post our social security numbers, passport information and so on....

I just found some dine ashore info.

NCL Norwegian Cruising Line Freestyle Dining Ashore

That is from a bermuda site, but this next one is from ncl. If you scan it you'll see that they made a long term contract with Bermuda and the dine ashore program seems to be included.

Welcome to NCL

Woo Ha! Lots of sites to use for my research. June is way too far away!

I am glad to hear that the inexpensive snorkeling equipment works *mostly* well. (not a sentence) I was looking at some on the Target website. Most of the B&M stores in MD won't have the equipment for a few months. According to my counter, I have 141 days to get them.

I am still a little confused (a permanent state of mind) on a few NCL things. I got different answers from different people at NCL. I got a 'cruise consultant' when I signed up for a brochure on NCL.com. I sent her a list of questions and she seemed to have different answers than what passengers and people on the toll-free NCL line have been telling me:

Quote:
On the soda pass, does that include juice?
Juices (such as OJ, cranberry ect.) are no extra charge, the soda card is for fountain drinks.
I thought everything except for water and tea were charged?!? She also gave me some vague answers on direct questions about the ship's layout. Is there a better resource for getting answers or is that true? I would rather my son have juice than soda.

Honestly, I am looking forward to getting on the ship an not have to worry about cleaning or cooking for a week. A good deck chair and a good book will keep me happy during the day.

From what I have read, juice and milk are definitely available at breakfast for free. The suggestion is to bring a cup/lid from home and refill it after you've had breakfast (obviously you would refill at the buffets). Then keep it in the fridge in the room. It won't keep it super cold, but at least cool. I don't think they would say anything about a child's cup since most people want to avoid spills.

Other than that, I didn't see it mentioned. My guess is that because juice and milk are typical beverages specifically for breakfast. Milk of course would also be used on cereal etc. They can't really charge for the milk since it can be used as "food".
