Question What made you decide to give NCL a try?

Why did you decide to take your first NCL cruise?

My first cruise was 1/2 paid for by a travel company for going to their seminar. They offered us a free 3 day cruise out of florida and i negotiated to my paying what the airfare would have been for me and sailing on NCL out of NY. Loved the cruise and cruising.

Way back it not as easy as it is now to get a New Years cruise. We foolishly waited until November to decide we wanted to do that with the girls. The only one our TA could find was a Special 7 Day Sailing for New Years on Sunward II. There were four of us in a tiny cabin (bunk beds) with one little port hole but we had a really good time.

We decided to have a short stay in New York in 2004, fly out to Jamaica for a few days before returning to New York, and thought a cruise to the Bahamas aboard Norwegian Dawn would complete a nice vacation.

Basically it was because of the itinerary and the price. We've already done two Caribbean cruises but this one included St. Maarten and St. Kitts which were both on my wish list. This will be our first NCL so we'll see what we think.

My neighbors put together a group cruise and we went. This was years ago, when NCL still had traditional seating. And Lulu, we were on the Sunward II also. I liked the cruise, except I was with the wrong husband.

Mindy ... Blizzard (John ... Bliz) also sailed on Sunward II way back when! Gosh, our bedroom walk-in closet at home is honestly larger than the cabin we had. Still, we had FUN and the cabin size didn't bother us! We were happy just to be on the ship!

I remember the introduction from our cruise director then. " You open the door to your cabin and say, "What could be smaller than THIS?" And then you open the door to your bathroom, and then you find out!"

I honestly don't know how people could store enough clothes for a whole week in those cabins!

We were invitied to go on the Boston to Bermuda cruise on the NCL Majesty for a wedding. All of the guests were on the cruise and the ceremony was in Bermuda on the Beach with a wonderful reception at a resort.

This was our 7th cruise but it was our first NCL. It was the first cruise for our kids. On Sunday we will board the NCL Gem for our 9th NCL cruise and 16th overall. IT is cruise number 8 for the kids.
    Upcoming cruises:

    NCL Star 2-19-12

NY'ers who wanted to check out the freestyle experience. Sailed this past Jan from NYC to Caribbean on Gem. We had a mini suite aft, good time however NY Sailings in winter to Caribbean will not happen again...Too rocky for the lady.
