The main dining was very good. The ship was nicely appointed (The Star). Cabin crew was friendly -waitstaff was fine.

We've only cruised once on NCL, last October on the Dream. We like the whole Freestyle concept. My DH loves the "optional" formal night. We were lucky enough to get an upsell for an awesome price on an AA. The butler/concierge service was incredible. We qualified for concierge on other cruiselines, but the service was mostly non-existent. I like being able to stay in the cabin on disembarkation day until our color is called. Look forward to sailing NCL again.

My favorite thing about NCL is the freestyle dining, and being able to eat when we want, either by ourselves as a family or with a group of friends. We've never tried "traditional cruising" and that is a big reason why -- I don't like the idea of assigned dining times with assigned tablemates.

Once we find a good waiter, we do usually eat at that same restaurant, and request to be seated in their area. That way, you get the benefits of having the wait staff learn your likes/dislikes, but you still aren't tied into a set dining time.
