    Smile NCL wedding?

    Hi, everyone!

I tried searching, but I didn't find any threads about NCL weddings. I've been on a few cruises before and my parents cruise frequently. We're all fans of NCL. My boyfriend and I have been talking about marriage for a long time and we both agree that a cruise wedding would be fun for all involved, especially since everyone would be traveling so far to come anyway (why not stay and go for a week-long reception?). I'd read some pretty bad reviews for Royal Caribbean and didn't see anything I liked for Carnival or Celebrity. I was wondering if anyone had been in or seen one of NCL's shipboard weddings?

I noticed there were some travel agents here, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much or less of a hassle cruise weddings are (other than travel arrangments). I know I won't really "know" until we set a date and start planning, but I'd like to get an idea, if possible. Any tips would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I haven't been on a NCL ship, but here's the link on the NCL website just in case you haven't found it:

Plan your Big Day or a romantic getaway at sea with Norwegian Cruise Line.

Hopefully one of the TAs will have some more info or even reports about client weddings.

Weddings are becoming more and more common onboard or on the islands. I haven't personally done one with NCL, but it is pretty much the same process as with the other lines. Please note that the ship Captain cannot legally marry you, esp. at sea, on any cruise line BUT one.... Princess.

Princess in my opinion does the best weddings.

Anyway... I would suggest working with a travel agent, to make less contacts and everything will be more organized. Make sure he/she is familiar with the wedding procedures, or is a destination wedding specialist.

With NCL, you will have to decide when and where... but it must be in port. You will need clergy or JP, and the license requirements will be determined by which port you choose. Are you going to get married at the embarkation port onboard, have the ceremony and wedding reception and have the guests leave? Or, are you going to have the guests stay for the cruise, erc.

This is just basic information... there is alot to planning, but so worth it...The wedding packages are pretty reasonable. Actually, in some ways, I think it is easier to plan than a wedding at home!

    Hope this helps a little....
