So, here's the dilemma. We're in an obstructed view, deck 8. Can't upgrade to a balcony because there's too many of us. (gotta bring the monkeys)
That brings us to a mini-suite, which will cost over $1,000 more. I LOVED the balcony on our last cruise, but know the slim chances of the upsell fairy calling. That being said, does NCL ever discount the price closer to sailing date? Or am I stuck? Thanks, M

I don't know if they specifically discount for existing bookings, but you can always call and make an offer. Depending on how full the ship is determines what the upsell activity will be. We are making our final payment on monday and really hoping for an upsell since almost all of the AC's for our sailing are open.

So, if you were me, what would you do? When would you do it? I really appreciate your help, over on the "dark side" I'm scared to ask questions anymore. People can be kinda cranky over there!

If I remember correctly, you are sailing on March 30th. That means you are definitely inside final payment. If you are working with a TA, ask hem to inquire into the possible cost of upgrading to the cabin that you want. If you don't like the offered price, present a counter offer. The worst they can say is no and you still have the cabin you were initially happy with.

Looking at you sailing, there seems to plenty of inventory of all types of cabins. So, upsell activity will probably be non-existent. But, maybe they will consider a decent counter offer for an upgrade.

Since this was supposed to be our "free" cruise, (that's how I talked DH into it anyway!!) We're going to wait to see what his 2007 bonus is. If it's big bucks, we're moving up!! If it's little bucks, maybe not.
