But this time, we don't need to rush, so I'm actually looking to avoid those people who are in a hurry to get off, and maybe leave after the rush.

If you're not in a hurry, then it's good to let those who are, get off the ship before you.

Not sure what port you're talking about, but on our last cruise (that got into San Pedro), we arranged for our car service to pick us up at 10am. Turned out the disembarkation started way late due to the customs and/or immigration officers getting on the ship late. Our cabin steward let us stay in our cabin (that was on a Princess ship...must have been the nice tip above the auto-tip that hubby gave him) and when 10am came around, I called the dispatcher and she said "no worries, just call when off the ship."

We'll be in Miami, from what I've read, NCL starts letting people off the Dawn fairly early. We actually were in that first rush the last time we cruised out of Miami, (had to get Mom to FLL for her flight home) and we breezed off the ship.

Then we discovered one of our bags was missing, and wasted an hour looking for it. Turned out, it wasn't NCL's fault, I'd left it under the bed, empty!!!! I remembered this much much much later, after filling out a lost bag report. It would have cost more to have NCL ship that empty bag home than I paid for it, so now my purple rolling duffle lives in miami!!

I'm impressed. You packed "x" number of bags to go on the cruise and put everything back into "x" - 1 number of bags to go home.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

I know, how ridiculous is that?!!!

It was our first cruise with the kids and I packed waaaay too much.

We had 2 huge rolling duffles, (plus the infamous purple rolling duffle!), the garment bag, DH's rolling briefcase, a smaller duffle with beach and pool toys, assorted water bottle holders that we didn't use, the highlighters in assorted colors (one for each family member ) the laundry bag, the over the door shoe organizer, the duct tape, the bungy cord, 2 fans (we're white noise people) too many shoes, too many clothes, and all of that other stuff that everyone said we'd need...

I couldn't figure out when I was packing to go home why all of our bags were stuffed so full.....

Note to self, this time, pack much lighter and COUNT THE SUITCASES!!!
