We leave March 30,2008 out of Miami. We'll be going to Samana, Tortola, St Thomas, and Great Stirrup Cay. I chose the Dawn because the dates worked with my kid's Spring break, and for the itinerary. (The Pearl was our other choice, but it's going to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, and we've been to both already)
I'm really looking forward to this itinerary. Is there a cheap way to get to the beach in St Thomas? My plan was to do the skyride, and then head to Morningstar, because it's close to the port, and I'm afraid to get stuck in traffic. From what I can tell a taxi will cost us 50 dollars round trip. If that's just the way it is, that's ok, I"ll just suck it up and do it.

I'll most definitely post a review when we get back, there isn't a lot of specific kid's club info out there. On the Spirit, my daughter (who was 9 at the time) loved the kid's club, she met another little girl and they had a great time together. My son was 6 at the time, and he wasn't as thrilled. (they called him "hey red shirt" hey blue shirt", all week and never learned his name. He's a tow head with white blonde hair, who's tall for his age, so he does tend to stand out in a crowd) in their defense it was Easter, and the ship was PACKED with kids. I saw a review somewhere that mentioned "TBONE" is on the Dawn now, she was not my favorite counselor, but I'm hoping she was just having a bad week.
But like I said it was Easter, and they were on their second week of mega kids. I heard the Dawn has video games in the kids club, so my son will be fine this time.

If anyone whose kids have used the kid's club on the Dawn recently could chime in, that would be great!

Morningstar is a great beach and really close by. Be aware that the snorkeling there is almost nonexistent. I would be surprised if the taxi cost that much for the four of you. But, then again with gas prices the way they are.

For Tortola I would recommend an excursion to the Baths over on Virgin Gorda.

I have not been to Samana yet. We will be going in April.

Great Stirrup Cay is a great beach day with a nice barbecue supplied from the ship.

We went to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Bermuda when we were on the Spirit in 2006. We were going to these islands and Samana this summer on the Spirit but swaped cruises. We will be going to San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola on the Carnival Miracle.

I really loved the Bath's at Virgin Gorda. We plan on going back again this year. Two great beaches and caves to climb through and explore, just a beautiful day!

We went to Magen's Bay when we were in St. Thomas. We really enjoyed the day. There are several great beaches in St. Thomas. We have been to St. Thomas several times but had never been to Magen's. I thought it was very nice. There are buoy's keeping the boats away and there really was no waves at the beach. I was able to swim the whole length of the beach up and back without anyone/anything getting in my path so this was a great plus for me and a great workout! This is not a good place to snorkel however. If you want snorkeling, go over to St. John and go to Trunk Bay.

I'm too much of a chicken to go that far away! I'd spend the whole day worrying about traffic on the way back. Better for me to be close to the ship and get in some shopping too!!!
