I am going on NCL Sun to Alaska at the end of August and wanted help picking tours to go on while we are there. Has anyone been to Alaska on that ship?

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Thanks for joining us Glenys! Be sure to check out the NCL forum - lot's of good info there. And Sue is right, while many of us prefer warmer waters, we have members (like Blizzard and Binny) who be happy to tell you all about their experiences cruising Alaska.
While waiting for other cruisers to post, check out this review:

While the author was on a different cruise line, if you roll down to the ports of call, there is some good info there on what excursions are possible. (The cruiselines tend to have similar ones, as well as similar itineraries.) There is also some info about shopping in Alaska.

I can see from the books that there are a lot of day trips to choose from in Alaska and wanted some advice on the best tours to take. We are sailing to Alaska doing the inside passage from Vancouver to Vancouver. He you could give me some advise that would be great.
Thanks
Do you have an idea of what type of trips you are interested in?
What ports are you going to?
I have been to almost all of the Alaskan ports and have taken a few of the trips. I have also gotten information from others that have taken some of the ones that I have not.

The ports we are stopping and and would like recommed tours are as follows.
Ketchikan from 6am to 3 pm
Juneau 7am to 1.30 pm
Skagway 7am to 5pm
Wrangell 9 am to 5 pm
if you can give me some advice on tours that you or people you know have recommed that would be great.
Thanks
Ketchikan, The floatplane tours are wonderful if your budget can handle it. We landed on an alpine lake and the sights were awsome. On the other end of the spectrum We usually walk over to Creek Street and follow the creek up to the hatchery and cultural center. Creek Street is only about 4 blocks for the pier, the hatchery about a half mile farther. When the salmon are running the creek is packed with them.Originally Posted by glenys
Juneau, Going out to Mendenhaul by bus is overrated. There are better views of glacers from the ship. I have heard the helicoptor trip is great. The last time we were there we took the Tram up to Mt Roberts. The view was great. We did a little hiking up there. We did a city tour there some years ago but my memory is faded...
Skagway, Ride the WP&YRR! The narrow gague railroad is great. You can take round trip or one way with the other direction on a bus seeing different sights. You will get quite a story of how difficult it was for the prospectors to get to the Yukon.
All of the ports have shopping areas close to the ships
I have never been to Wrangle.
I hope this is of some help.
