Talking NCL Crown Christmas 2005 South America Cruise

I am off on the Crown for Christmas and New Year. I am flying out of the UK on the 15th December and joining the ship on the 18th from Valparaiso.

Is anyone else going aboard at this special time?

What a cool name! Welcome to CLF!

I won't be on your cruise, but am planning to cruise from Buenos Aires to Valpariso in Jan 07. Since it is so far away, it's hard to find other cruisers online that will join you. However, you can learn about your ship and NCL here on the NCL board.

I don't know your itinerary, but if you are interested in reading a review about a cruise from Valpariaso to Buenos Aires, I found one here:

It's a different ship from yours, but the info about the Ports of Call should be useful, as well as his ideas on which side of the ship is better for this cruise (it's not what you would think), and other tips.

I did find a review of your ship on a cruise from BA to V, but it was much shorter and less informative.
http://www.cruisereviews.com/Norwegi...ianCrown16.htm

We are still a small site, but I hope others from your cruise will join soon.
Enjoy your stay on the SS CLF!

We're planning on the Crown circumnavigation of SA in late Feb of 07. We've been on the Crown before and like it although it was the Crown Odyssey at the time and not freestyle like now.We will go from Buenas Aires to Santiago hoping to avoid the $100.00 per head airport tax in Santiago. Our info is they only charge it to arriving, not departing passengers.

My Signature 27 cruises and countin'!
Next cruise, July 12-26, 2008. NCL Jade 13 night cruise around the British Isles, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris.

I have heard that she is still beautiful, have to confess that I prefer the smaller ships and she fits my idea of a really nice, comfy ship to spend 2 weeks on in some of the most spectacular areas of the world...especially at Christmas/New Year.

In regards to the $100 fee, I think its regardless of how you arrive or leave in Chile - by air or by sea - if you are an US passport holder you still get charged the fee. Not entirely sure but its certainly worth your while looking at the Chilean webpage to be absolutely sure, so to avoid a nasty surprise.

I just checked my Amadeus flight page and the e-ticket for my flights has now been issued

So it should only be a matter of days before my cruise docs with the flight ticket arrives

Makes it all the more real when you see that on the booking sheet, doesn't it??

woooooooohoooooooo

I just had a quick look at the cabins still available for this cruise and there are LOADS of them!!

I hope things pick up soon, there are 5 others on the ship that I know of...I would have thought the ship would have been nigh on full by now...

Oh well...I shall just have more food and drink to myself, won't I?

I am exempt from that being a British passport holder but from what I found out, after being asked, was that all US citizens entering or leaving Chile - regardless of route and regardless of sea/air/road, they all pay the fee upon entry to Chile.

So as to the fee being waived on your holiday, personally I would check with the Cilean authorities and get it in writing to be absolutely certain.
