Convince Me - Which route should I take?

I can only do one 7ish night cruise, either North to the Norwegian Fjords, or East on the Baltic as far as St. Petersburg. BTW, I will have my 90 year old father-in-law with me who doesn't care which route we take. We will have traveled some in Denmark before the cruise checking out our forefathers. So, which direction would you choose and why?
I am also thinking of cruising with Costa so need your opionion on this cruise line as well.

Well, I am to going to convice you what to do.
What do you want to see the most?? Norway and the Baltic is very different.
If you want beautiful nature you go to Norway.
If you want lots of history you go to the Baltics.

As for Costa - I have never cruised with them so cant answer your question.
However, others have so hopefully they will pass by and answer some of the questions you have regarding Costa.

    The Fjords, Definitely!

The best cruise we have ever taken was the one to the Norwegian Fjords. The scenery is breathtaking and most of the sightseeing is at an easy pace. In Olden, where the ship was docked one day, the greens were amazing. I told my husband the ship should stay right there for the rest of the cruise!

The Baltics, on the other hand, is very hectic I am told. We have not done this itinerary, although I had been to St. Petersburg when it was Leningrad. There is so much to see and do, and not much time to rest in between.

    Whatever you choose, enjoy!
