What are some things that you saw/experienced while on your Scandinavia/Baltics cruise there were unexpected? What secrets can you share? What are considered not to be missed sights? What sights were hidden treasures that you weren't too sure about before going, but now are glad that you went and saw? What is considered way too overated? What did you see or learn that you never heard of before you left?

Purchase the city cards if you're planning to see the cities on your own!!! It'll save you money and you won't have to carry so much currency around with you....it was a life saver for us!

Don't miss:

The Rock Church in Helsinki

The Ice Bar in Stockholm (If you're up for something kitchy and fun!) Just about anywhere in Stockholm was great!

Peterof in St. Petersburg (for the fountains....pic included!)

The Hermitage in St. Petersburg

Tallinn's old town.

And just walk around on your own....you'll be able to find those "jewels" that no one else might see!

Adding to that list:

-the Vasa warship museum in Stockholm is fascinating!!

-the shopping is the best in Tallinn, more expensive than in 2000, but still a real deal for the area. The Baltic has high prices generally.

-When in Oslo, make sure you see the fabulous statues in Vigeland Park. Vigeland trained under Rodin and his theme of "circle of life" is just stunning. The life-likeness of each carving with expressions of joy, sorrow, fear, sadness etc. are fabulous and deserve a closer look.

Alisa...just a tidbit of info...that beautiful pic that Terry posted? That water fountain (and all the fountains on the property) are all naturally hydrauliced....meaning that there is no electricity or other power source controlling the fountains...there is a natural pressure that is causing the fountains to work!!! So incredible!!

I can't remember about the Roman fountains...that was 6 years ago, so that info escapes me, but it wouldn't surprise me either.
