Can't say how much I loved the place. We were there in an unusually hot spell for September which was a bit of a shock since our hotel did not have air conditioning (or screens on the windows! No bugs in London!) We spent the day doing the tube to get everywhere (love the London mass transit) and saw the British museum (could have spent a week there alone!) the British library (almost a sacred place for Deb and I since we are such bookaholics) and the tower of London (just NEAT!) There was so much on our plate that we had to miss since we had a bit of jet lag and Deb's back was hurting (you walk everywhere in London. And there are tons of stairs) Oh yes, we went to a West End play while we were there (love how they serve ice cream during intermission!)

London is a truly happening place. I love the melting pot feel of the city. I love that you can go out and get anything you want, see all the latest movies, plays, operas etc. I also collect books, I could never part with one, so I loved all the little book shops. I do miss the city now that I dont live there anymore.

Someday I hope to cruise the Baltic but it will not happen until I retire. I can not get away long enough to do it right.

In the mean time I will continue to cruise Alaska. The fact that we do not have to fly to cruise there offsets the high port charges.

In looking at those port call and passenger figures, many of them must be smaller ships. Seattle has less ships turning around but more passengers.
For the 2008 season Seattle had 210 cruise ships calls and 886,039 passengers. It passed Vancouver's 854,453 passengers

    Bliz,
You are lucky in that regard being so close to the port. For those of us who have to do a cross country to get up to Seattle, Europe is almost (not quite, but almost!) as reasonable!

Yes, price wise, but in terms of travel time Alaska is a lot closer.....even from Florida.

We love transatlantic cruises, and we love Alaska cruises...........such a dilemma, which one to choose!
