Thread: MS Noordam 28 July 2009 10-DAY ROMAN EMPIRE

We book this cruise , there will be 2 of us on board. Looking forward to discuss information about the ship, trips and ideas about the ports of call.

We were on the Noordam last December. Unfortunately it was not a very good cruise for us. The ship itself is very nice, the food is good, the entertainment was great but the staff left a lot to be desired. Now our cabin attendant was excellent, our waitstaff was good, but the front desk staff were horrible (they would listen to your problems, give you a sympathetic ear, but would do absolutely nothing to correct the problem). Ditto for most of the rest of the staff.

Of course, getting Noro virus did not help nor did having the ship hair dryer explode in my hands and giving me burns.

This will be for us the first cruise with the HAL, so I hope will not get the same experience as you. Where did your cruise was, and how about other experience with HAL ships in the past ?

Only our second HAL cruise. Our first one was in 2001 on the Veendam. It was great. Our dining room waiter was a bit rough but his assistant more than made up for it. Our room attendant was phenomenal. All the crew was excellent. From what I remember, at the time everyone had a "can do" attitude and we loved the cruise (which was one reason why we went back to HAL after several Celebrity cruises)

Our cruise was a 10 day southern Caribbean. Now, we heard that the staff of the ship was a bit disgruntled since HAL had just staffed the Eurodam mostly using staff from the Noordam. It is our suspicion that the ones who were not selected for the new ship were not happy.

Looks like nobody go on 28 july with MS Noordam because I can not find on any forum a Roll Call for this date.

Maybe we will have the whole ship for our self.

Neal, can you tell me or there are coffee machines in the cabbins
because the first I need in the morning is a good strong cup coffee.

I am not a cofee drinker so I did not pay attention! Let me check with Yonnie, she should know.

Water pitcher definitely....... (I drink lots of water)

Of course you can always call out to room service!

HAL does not have any coffee machines in any cabins on any of the ships.

You can get coffee in the Lido 24/7.

You can also order coffee through room service 24/7.

We sailed on the Noordam for 20 days just this past February -- had a really great cruise.

Loved the ship.

Last year on the Norwegian Gem they have in each cabbin a coffee machine with coffee bags.
