    Dusky Sound

Has anyone cruised into Dusky Sound in New Zealand ? We saw it on a cooking program, they were fishing for their dinner. It was a fabulously beautiful area and a National Park.
I have seen an itinerary where Celebrity Century spends a day scenic cruising there.

Tony, I've been to Milford Sound, but never Dusty Sound. If Dusty is anything like Milford, it's spectacular. I don't think you can go wrong with any site in New Zealand. The whole country is breathtaking!

I think thy are part of the same National Park. the Celebrity Century spends three consecutive scenic cruising days in Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound.
Did you write about it in a cruise report ?

Tony, we went to New Zealand in 1995, which was our first foray out of the U.S. My DH traveled 5 days a week for a few years and collected a bunch of airline points and hotel points. He asked me if I could go any place in the world, where would I go and I told him I wanted to see New Zealand. I used to read National Geographic Magazine and they always had pictures of NZ and it looked so beautiful I'd always dreamed of going there. He made it happen.

We flew to Australia and spent a week on the eastern coast near Brisbane. After that we flew to NZ and took a 10 day land tour. We were on the most amazing tour and visited all over the South Island, and a few places on the North Island. One of my favorite stops was in Queensland and the Remarkable Mountains. All of this was before we discovered cruising.

Unfortunately, this happened before I discovered digital camera. I took over 1000 pictures and you can imagine the cost I had to have the pictures developed. They are amazing pictures and every time I look at them, I want to go back.

Thanks Garry, We have visited Australia twice but never New Zealand. We stayed near Surfers Paradise for a week and climbed Mount Warning, the peak of which is the first part of Australia to be hit by the sunrise. I quess that is furthur south than the Remakable Mountaints. I think I will have to fit this Dusky sound cruise in someday, and write a report on it.
