    6.3 Earthquake hits New Zealand

Reporting still sketchy, nas just happened, but there is one report that 'buildings are down' in Christchurch.
Same unnamed source says fatalities "likely."

One of our members, quiltsalad, has family there. I hope all is well for them.

Have just been watching the disaster on TV, seeing large collapsed buildings, buses crushed, it is terrible. Hoping quicksalad family and love ones are safe.

I have been posting pictures from Lytteton the port of Christchurch, the webcam are down

Whilst typing this all water pumping stations are down, so there is no water.

    More information:

BBC News - New Zealand earthquake: 65 dead in Christchurch

    Sympathies to all those suffering.

Reports of 65 dead, expected to continue to rise
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Afraid the death toll is rising.

Christchurch Fire Chief says every rescue with a survivor is a major achievement. We must not forget the work involved in searching for survivors, and the many Countries sending experts and equipment to assist the search.
