If you are a wine afficianado, who likes to bring home a little fruit of the vine from far and wide, this site will give you a nice little primer on New Zealand wines and wineries, including the following little tidbit on exportable NZ wines:
For a New Zealand grape wine to be eligible for export, it must meet the requirements of the New Zealand Wine Act 2003, which include that it be free from obvious fault and that it must have come from a winery that has a fully traceable record keeping system that has been audited.

I enjoy NZ wine and love NZ. Most of the wines comes from the Marlborough region, which is located in the north part of the South Island. Picton would be the closest port.
Picton itself is quite lovely as well. There's a great park right near the harbor.
There is a very scenic route on the Queen Charlotte Road between Picton and Havelock.

We're going to New Zealand in November before getting on the Regent Mariner. We're planning on spending a couple of days in the Hawke's Bay wine country tasting their reds. Has anyone been wine tasting in Hawke's Bay? If so, any recommendations?
