I am very excited - I will be sailing out of the port of NY on April 18 on Amazara Journey heading to Rouen, France. This will be my second cruise sailing from NYC. My first one was 49 years ago on the Queen of Bermuda heading to Bermuda of course. I used to work on the 48th floor of the RCA building and remember watching the beautiful ladies of the ocean sailing on and out of the port from my office window. I always said one day I would sail to Europe from NYC. Well, it took me a very long time but I will be sailing in 43 days. All good things come to those who wait. This will be my 30th cruise! Guaranteed I will be crying my eyes out as we sail past the Statue of Liberty. I cry on every cruise awhen the horn blows and we sail out of port - this cruise is special and I will cry even more.

I can't say enough about how beautiful the cruise is out of the Port of NY - did it every week for 5 months and every time was spellbound!

NY, my home port, I sailed out twice, once on NCL and once on Carnival. If you don't have a balcony, find a good viewing area, outside in good weather, or a good inside view like the spinnaker lounge on NCL in front of the ship. The sail down the Hudson and under the Verrazano is great. Seeing the Statue of Liberty and lower manhattan, looking up the east river an the Brooklyn Bridge are fun sights. Coming back I always eat breakfast in the MDR near a window and watch coney island and the lower manhattan sights as we sail back up the Hudson. On the way back always sit on the starboard side or you will just see Staten Island and NJ.
July 22nd NCL Pearl Seattle to Alaska and back
