Here is a great place to view New York City from: Top of the Rock. It was closed during the 80's and 90's. But after a big restoration it re-opened in 2005. It costs about $19 to go to the 70th floor. From here you can see the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty (Plus many other places as well).
