Port of New Orleans signs agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line

The Port of New Orleans signed an agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line on Friday extending the Miami company's commitment to sail from New Orleans through Oct. 31, 2014.

The 1,966-passenger Norwegian Spirit cruise ship will be based in New Orleans for 21 weeks each year and will sail weekly from November to April for at least three years. The agreement includes a three-year option. The Norwegian Spirit sails seven-day itineraries to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala; and Belize City, Belize

That is good news for those folks who like to sail out of New Orleans. Gives them more options.

It's also good economic news for the city of New Orleans, which I am very glad to see.

I hear the Spirit is a really pretty ship, so that's an extra bonus... it's not an old tub, and should attract a lot of NCL cruisers because of the SHIP itself, in addition to the fact that the location of the Port is convenient for a lot of people not living on either the East or West Coast.
